Audio-visual Equipment is also available for Check-out.  Equipment may be checked out for one week. Borrowers must be at least 18 years old.

 

Library Materials

Loan Periods

Most circulating items are checked out for 21 days with the following exceptions:

With the exception of New Books, books checked out on a Public School Teacher Card are checked out for 6 weeks and cannot be renewed.  New Books, and AV materials are checked out for their normal loan periods.

 

 

Limits

A maximum of 35 items may be checked out to a card at any time.  Note that 50 items may be checked out to a  Public School Teacher Card and only 3 items may be checked out to a Provisional Card. The following limits also apply:

 

Renewals

Most items can be renewed one time only.  The following types of items may NOT be renewed:

 

Items may be renewed the following ways:

After the renewal limit for an item has been reached, the item must be returned to the shelves before it can be checked out again by that patron or immediate family members.

 

 

Return of Items

Items may be returned to any Library in the Union County system regardless of where they were checked out.  They may either be brought into the Library during business hours or placed in the outside drops 24 hours a day.  Fines for overdue items should NOT be put in the drops.

 

Patrons are responsible for materials until they are checked in.

 

Patrons who return items in the outside drops before entering the Library may have to wait until the drop is emptied to checkout if they have reached the limit for certain material types.

 

Fines and Fees — Overdue Materials

Overdue fines are assessed for items returned more than one day past their due date.  Fines are assessed on library business days only.  Fine rates are as follows:
